[video] How to relocate abroad with recruitment

Working in recruitment doesn’t mean you can’t move abroad with your career.

Here at Morgan McKinley, we have a number of people in our business who have relocated to another one of our international offices.

This video showcases the career path of Richie Holliday, Chief Operations Officer of our Asia Pacific offices, who is now based in Hong Kong. Richie is a prime example of someone who has been with the business since the start of his recruitment career. After leaving the British Army in the 1990s, Richie was looking for his next challenge and discovered that working in recruitment could offer something really rewarding.

He started with Morgan McKinley in 1999 as an entry-level associate in the role of Researcher - sourcing qualified accountants for the financial services sector in London. He quickly progressed through the ranks and by the time he left the UK in early 2007, he was an Operations Director.  Richie moved to Hong Kong in April 2007 to manage the Morgan McKinley Hong Kong office which consisted of just 6 people at the time, but has now grown to over 50. Richie then progressed into a more strategic role to look after operations in Hong Kong and Japan, and to start up the mainland China office in Shanghai in late 2010.   Subsequently he took on the regional responsibility for our APAC team, almost 250 staff currently, and continues to learn and be challenged everyday.

In this video Richie talks about the reasons why he chose to move to Hong Kong and the advice he would give to someone considering an international career move.

Richie is but one example of someone who has taken advantage of the global mobility we offer, and his broad experiences across numerous geographies have kept him freshly challenged, year after year, as a result. Here at Morgan McKinley we relish the opportunity to put new challenges in front of our people regularly. In return they can learn exciting new skills, often in interesting, different locations and can build a long-term career full of diverse cultural knowledge and genuinely new perspectives.
