Morgan McKinley 7th Annual Tax Pub Quiz

On Wednesday 15th November, we were delighted to host the 7th Morgan McKinley Annual Tax Professionals Pub Quiz.

The evening was held at Balls Brothers, Mark Lane, London, a fitting venue for such a fantastically attended event. Starting with a champagne reception and food, the teams then put their brain power to test over 4 rounds of questions and the picture quiz.

The evening was managed by our very own ‘hosts with the mosts’, Will Hepworth & Archie Forbes Adam, who compared the event to a meeting of Mensa members...with drinking and singing.

A chance to thank clients and support a worthy charity

The event was an opportunity for us to say thank you to all the attendees for continuing to work in partnership with us, but equally to give everyone attending the opportunity to network with fellow taxation professionals - and of course have a good time!image

We also held a charity raffle on behalf of Force Cancer, raising £350 for a fantastic cause. Many thanks to all those who contributed on the night.

The quizzers in attendance

Once again, turnout was brilliant with 16 teams taking part on the evening - near to 100 attendees in the room altogether. Clients that attended included teams from Vodafone, PwC LRT, Financial Times, Sony, John Lewis, ICBC, LLoyds, Herbert Smith Freehills, RBS, Gerald Edelman, EY, Paddy Power/Betfair, HSBC, Barclays and Knight Frank.

More than an evening of questions and answers

As ever, there were some moments of unscripted entertainment throughout the evening. A special mention goes out to John Thurston from Vodafone who was the provider of much amusement, winning the infamous cracker eating competition and initiating an ear breaking singalong to DayDream Believer by The Monkees followed by George Michael’s Careless Whisper! Guilty feet may have no rhythm...but the tax professionals certainly did!

Bragging rights go to…

After the various questions across a broad range of topics, there could be only one winning team.

Huge congratulations go to PwC LRT who claimed 1st place, winning a night of fine dining and a huge well done to our 2nd place team, Vodafone’s Quizzers or Steamers who received a bottle of champagne each.

We have to give a mention to team “...and the winner is…” for bringing up the rear and claiming the highly esteemed wooden spoon. Things can only get better next year!
