A Day in the Life of...a Recruitment Compliance Manager

We have all sorts of people from a variety of backgrounds that make Morgan McKinley successful, and it’s not just those working as recruitment consultants who work here.

We have all sorts of people from a variety of backgrounds that make Morgan McKinley successful, and it’s not just those working as recruitment consultants who work here. From HR to Finance, and IT Support to Marketing, Morgan McKinley offer more than one type of career path.

Meet our Recruitment Compliance and Internal Controls Manager, Natalie McCullough. As you might imagine, Natalie has a huge amount of responsibilities within Morgan McKinley to ensure that the candidates our recruiters have placed, start as quickly as possible and adhere to all the rules and regulations. Have a read of her blog to see what her role entails.

How did I get to work in this role? To be honest, no-one ever sets out to be a Compliance Manager or even at a more junior level and it’s not exactly a careers fair favourite. What I can tell you though is that it is hard work and is something you have to continually work towards. If like me, you are someone who always feels like there is more to learn and want to strive to achieve more, then this is an ideal choice for a really long-lasting and interesting career. I have to stress that it is very much a personal choice but it can also be very rewarding to be able to just help people on a daily basis.

Having started my career with Morgan McKinley in February 2012 as the Compliance Manager for our internal screening team, I have since had the opportunity to extend my knowledge and skill set within the business into other areas. These opportunities have also created a need for me to be flexible as no two days are the same for me, I am needed to wear many hats to assist teams achieve their end objectives.

The best aspect of my day to day is the ability to shape how I add value to the business and prioritise my own workload each day. Within my Internal Controls role, I have always been encouraged to use my initiative and to develop my profile within the company. You will be hard pressed to find another employer who will be able to utilise someone’s varied skill set and work with them to reach own personal goals.

It is really important to really live the MMK values we have, as this team works closely with a wide variety of teams at different seniority levels across the UK & Ireland. Where to go from here? There really is no limit on what you can achieve through hard work and willing to go that extra mile in a business environment.
