Improving Lives Together: A pleasant walk for Morgan McKinley UK to raise money for charity.

After months of gruelling training – well if that included planning which pubs were en route and how they fit into the schedule - the UK offices of Morgan McKinley completed their first charity event; The White Horse to White Horse 25 KM walk. Coincidentally named after the local we frequent here at our London offices, it seemed only logical to walk from that watering hole to the its namesake in Richmond.

Now, why may you ask? Well here is the serious part; as a business Morgan McKinley has pledged to raise €1 million via fundraising and donations. As part of this pledge we have held a number of events from Dragon boat racing through to touch rugby tournaments. This year, our UK business has decided to support Young Minds as our official charity – you can find more about the work they do here.

We racked our brains for a suitable platform to raise awareness and financially support a fantastic charity who do amazing work with children and young people. Now not everyone is sporty, nor could we find a venue large enough for a company wide bungee jump (much to everyone’s disappointment!) so we decided that walking a rather large section of the Thames Path would do instead. You might think 25km is an easy task but it’s a fair distance and it’s safe to say many under estimated the physical challenge that it presented on the day. That, coupled with the heat, meant frequent stops were necessary to combat the parched and arid mouths and rest weary feet!

Contributing to the Morgan McKinley Million

I’m pleased to say that all of the 80 who took part completed the challenge – though much can’t be said for the blisters collected along the way. Not only that, but we raised a sizeable sum, supporting Young Minds to the tune of over £10,000! Our biggest fundraising event we have had in the UK!
