How can running help you in your job search?

One of the hardest things in your job search is staying motivated.

I have interviewed countless people looking for jobs who have become disengaged and demotivated through rejection after rejection. They have lost their fight and will to keep going to find their dream job. I always recommend to not give up and think of your job search like training for a run.

Training for any run, be it a 5km fun run or marathon, is tough. It’s easy to lose motivation and the drive to get off the couch. You need focus and purpose for the training. Maybe you want to better your time over a certain distance or maybe it is raising funds for a charity that means a lot to you.

Our team in Hong Kong recently competed in the UNICEF run on Sunday 29 November. It was held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on Lantau Island. The event is co-organized by Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) and Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association. The funds that we have raised will go to the UNICEF Global campaign - ‘Unite for children, Unite against AIDS ’to help achieve an AIDS-free generation through elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

It was a big challenge for everyone to push to make the effort to run in the humidity and heat, as well as do the training. It takes a real commitment to get up so very early on a Sunday (one of our team was up at 3.55am in order to get to the start on time)!

Well done to all of our Hong Kong staff who participated! You are all winners in our eyes.
