CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility can be a key way of attracting talent into a company. And why is CSR so important?
I think it shapes a company’s culture. I think it says a lot about an organization on how committed they are in making their company a great place to work. As an individual, it gives you a chance to step away from your day job and make a difference in someone else’s life. Working in recruitment, every day we are impacting and changing people’s lives by giving them the opportunity to potentially move into a new role which could greatly improve their life as well as their families’ life.
During interviews, candidates often ask me about what Morgan McKinley’s CSR programme is like. It’s simple. Each office does it differently. We make it personal. There is no blanket policy on which charity or programme we should support, every employee in every office gets the chance to discuss ideas and options of what we can get involved in.
What types of activities do we do to fundraise for our chosen charity?
Again, each office does it differently. Themed bake sales, fun runs, clothes swaps, bike rides, trivia nights, casino night, boxing events, cooking classes, tough mudder events – you name it, we probably have done it.
Here are some recent events:
At Morgan McKinley we also support individuals who take on personal goals for charities that are really important to them. I for one will be completing my first ever 5km run on Sunday February 8 here in Sydney at the Color Run and raising money to support Multiple Sclerosis sufferers. If you’d like to donate, here’s my fundraising page.
Does your company give you the opportunity to support charities you are passionate about?
If not, then maybe it’s time for you to work for a company that does.
