Career Ready Internship

Through Career Ready, one of Morgan McKinley’s corporate charity partners

I was able to complete a 6 week internship within the Internal Compliance team.  It has been a fantastic 6 weeks where I have learnt a lot and been involved in some excellent company activities.

Ever since my first day, I was extremely busy getting involved in the MMK Million launch where I had the opportunity to sit in on presentations with David Leithead, UK COO, and our other charity partners. It was a fantastic chance for me to meet others in the business and talk to them about their experiences of working here.

The highlights of my 6 weeks were:

  • The wonderful Internal Compliance team who have introduced me to a world I’ve never known much about; now I have more knowledge about the background screening process which is important for candidates to be signed off and begin work.
  • Getting introduced to the sales world by Adam Ellwood and understanding what the Consultant’s do on a daily basis, and how it may be a career I could look to pursue in the future.
  • With the help of Lainey Gower, I’ve been able to increase my article writing skills by posting blogs on Jostle, our internal comms platform, about my charity trip to Gambia. Thanks to all those who have already contributed to my trip via my JustGiving page.
  • Finally, beating David Leithhead by 5 seconds in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge run! This was a memorable moment from the internship and I was pleased to be able to take part in such an iconic event in Battersea Park, London.

After my internship I will be completing my second year of A levels before going to university to study, possibly for a Sports or Business/Sales degree.

Everyone at Morgan McKinley has made me feel incredibly welcome during my 6 weeks here, and I’ve felt more like a colleague than an intern. I thank everyone for making my experience here a memorable one. I have learnt so much, built up my confidence and now understand what it is like to work in a professional environment. Those skills will stay with me throughout my career.
