4 reasons why your career will benefit from speaking to a Talent Acquisition specialist

When I made the shift to Talent Acquisition (TA) in the recruitment industry, I was surprised to find that most recruiters knew very little about what TAs do and how they can help with your career journey in the industry.

To summarise: A TA within a recruitment agency is the person who focuses on sourcing and hiring recruiters. They play an integral role in determining the hiring needs and strategies of a company, as well as managing the recruitment life cycle.

Why should recruiters or anyone looking to forge a career in recruitment connect with a TA?

1. We provide market insight and career advice

We speak to candidates and Rec2Recs on a daily basis. We conduct competitor analyses and map industry trends, so we’re able to give you a clear picture of where you stand in the market and advise on your options.

Even if you’re not actively looking and just want to find out how your current commission structure and base salary compares, or whether you’re progressing up the ladder as quickly as you could be, the TA is a great person to reach out to.

2. We have the inside scoop on our teams and can influence internal hiring

Why rely on a third party for information when you can get it directly from the source? We work closely with our teams and can give you a clear idea about the company culture, the personalities within teams and what you should expect if you are a successful applicant.

We can also give you access to jobs that aren’t being widely advertised and could even possibly create a new role for you based on your career goals and how they align with the company’s long-term goals.

3. You’ll have an advocate within the company who will be with you every step of the way

You’re 70% more likely to land a job if you have a connection to someone within the company. Building a relationship with the TA will allow you to have that trusted link and help your profile stand out from the sea of ‘unknown’ candidates.

We will also give you specialist tips on how to prepare for your interviews, guide you through the onboarding process (whether remote or in person), and be that familiar face you can count on during your transition period.

4. Using a Rec2Rec affects your employability

Companies pay a fee to Rec2Recs to find top talent. You may not be at the stage of your career just yet to be on their radar, and so building a relationship with the TA will help you get your foot in the door with the company more directly. Also once a Rec2Rec presents your profile to a company they will have ownership of your profile for 6 months up to a year.
