The Tokyo Track | Run Ger Run!

Group COO, Ger Fitzgerald, teamed up with four other keen runners from the Tokyo office for the Japanese leg of his MMK Million Run Ger Run challenge.

Earlier this year, Morgan McKinley launched the MMK Million; our global challenge to raise €1million by the end of 2018 for selected charities. Ger kick-started with his own pledge of Run Ger Run - challenging himself to run 6 half marathons in 2016 to fundraise for LauraLynn Children's Hospice. You can read more about Ger's pledge here

After running in Dublin and London, Ger set out for his third half marathon in Tokyo along with MD Lionel Kaidatzis, and Steven Howden, Yoshi Kumazawa and Brendan Walsh from the management team. The objective: 4 laps of the running track around the Imperial Palace in the very heart of Tokyo, in higher temperatures and humidity than Ger had faced to date.

The course was reasonably flat but featured a long and slow climb about half way round, and it was this hill that was the most challenging part of the course. Initial admiration of the sights and sounds of the Imperial Palace gave way to an intense silence and a desire to finish the track... Which I am pleased to say the entire team did (with a smile!).

Well done team, and good luck with the next half marathon Ger! #MMKMillion
